The Freeway Phantom timtable is amongst the simplest of the designs based on the Whitechapel murders. The date of each attack is reduced to two numbers – the number of days from the start of the year, and the number of days from the attack to the end of the year,

The numbers are grouped into three lots of two and the first number is subtracted from the second. The subtraction produces the numbers 66, 74 and 70. Adding 66 and 74 produces a sum of 140 or twice 70. 

The aim of the design is to establish this 140:70 or 2:1 ratio or relationship.
