The Reason Carol Spinks is Important
Allenteen was the first name of Carol Denise Spinks’ mother.
Arthur Leigh Allen was a convicted paedophile and a prime suspect in the Zodiac Murders in California in the late 1960s and early 1970s. In actuality, Allen was the third member of a small gang that murdered as the Zodiac. The leader of the gang – and the man known as the Freeway Phantom – was a Charlie Chan fan who loosely based the Zodiac Murders on the movie “Charlie Chan at Treasure Island”. Moreover, he had various gang members operate under the guise of a single fictional character following an earlier Charlie Chan movie, “Charlie Chan in Paris.” Using this ruse, the perpetrators aimed to evade suspicion by creating solid alibis for some crimes. Of course, such tactics only work if the authorities attribute all the crimes to a single offender. And that is a significant reason the Zodiac was happy to claim credit for all the killings.
Whether Allen was responsible for killing any of the Zodiac’s victims is uncertain. Still, both the leader of the gang and his deputy – possibly Jack Tarrance – did kill as the Zodiac. Allen’s primary role in the Zodiac Gang was to obstruct the police investigation by posing as the Zodiac.
The indirect reference to Allen in the Freeway Phantom Killings continues the practice of throwing suspicion onto Allen while attributing the killings to the Zodiac.
Carol Spinks is also an “Allen teen” because she is a victim of paedophilia.
